Mrityunjaya Homam is a powerful healing homam dedicated to Lord Shiva as Mrityunjaya - the conqueror of death.
Mrityunjaya Homam is performed for curing diseases and for attaining good health. The ritual involves offering 7 sacred items – Chittamrith valli (Guduchi), Peeralin mottu (fig bud), sesame (ellu), karuka grass, milk, ghee, and palpayasam – 144 times each while chanting the Mrityunjaya mantra. This homam is very good for improving health. In case of severe distress, the number of offerings can be increased. When 7 groups of materials are offered 1008 times each, it is called Maha Mrityunjaya Homam.
